Hike at Africa

"We are two ladies who just completed a hike covering almost 2200km, starting at Port Nolloth following the coastline all the way to Kosibay on the east border.  We did this in just over 4 months, with full backpacks. 
 
Our short term future plans are to do the Fish River Canyon and Naukluft Hike in Namibia back to back, covering 212km in 14 days.  Leading up to this we will be doing lots of different shorter hikes.
 
During this time we used La Sportiva Hikingboots.  We would just like to commend you with an excellent brand and high quality product.  La Sportiva offers an exceptional quality and during our hike it fulfilled our needs and we were extremely satisfied with them.
 
During the 4 month hike we used only high quality products and after using La Sportiva boots (every day over the 4 month hike on surfaces from rocks, sand, dirt and tar roads) we are convinced of their excellence.
We found that people enquire as to what sort of clothing and gear we would recommend and will be able to highlight and recommend La Sportiva under our local hiking community. 
Many local and national media coverage has been given to our hike and we plan to get magazines like "Go" and "Weg" to cover our story.
 
Once we finished our hike, we realized hiking will remain part of our lives as long as we are capable of doing it.  Every year we are doing a "major" or long hike.  For 2009 it will be in Namibia during July and August. (as mentioned above)

Quick biker cuisine

Culinary delights don't necessarily go hand in hand with long-distance travel in Africa. Firstly there’s the issue of available packing space, then there are variations in temperature likely to spoil or squish anything other than bulletproof or canned foodstuffs. Add a soupcon of dust and sand, a little rain and total darkness… et voila, you have misery and a grumbling tum.

So how does Mexican chicken with kidney beans and corn in a mild chilli sauce in 10 minutes sound? You can also add a few nachos on the side.

Rim of Africa Adventure

"The Rim of Africa would like to sincerely thank you for your support of the inaugural Rim of Africa expedition and Phase 1 of what will be a growing feature in the Cape Fold Mountains.

Our decision to go with MSR and a combination of Hubba & Hubba Hubba tents proved invaluable and thoroughly appreciated as we found ourselves in the hills during what became a walk in some of the wettest weather reported for this region since 1979. While we shortened the planned route by one day, we managed to shepherd a fantastic group through the hills for 10 days in these conditions, enjoying every step of the way and thankful for your quality equipment that kept our group dry and safe for the duration of the trip.

The stoves, while fairly heavy on fuel, fired up every time and continued to provide very necessary warmth and nourishment. The pots have also proved themselves to be resilient and will be with us for a long time. The boots have also shown themselves to be quality foot wear and the correct purchases for what we are trying to achieve."
